In the era where stars stay active on social media and use fancy gadgets to prove their luxury, we have Fahadh Faasil, who is known for maintaining a low-key private life. Recently, a picture of him holding a keypad-based Virtu mobile went viral on social media. He calls it a dumb phone and added why he prefers staying away from social media or WhatsApp. Fahadh also stated that he still sticks to his plan of working as an Uber driver in Barcelona post his retirement.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Fahadh said, “I have been using a dumb phone for the last year. I am cut off from the internet. Ultimately, within two years, I may be accessible only through email. Initially, I was on social media, but I wasn’t handling it well. I don’t know what to post or what to reply.
One this I am sure of is that not even a single personal picture of me or from my house will be posted. So, I used to update about my career. Now, I don’t have social media or even WhatsApp. I feel there is nothing I am missing out on. I also don’t feel I am alienated from Gen Z, as I am delivering good films. The day when I start making bad films, I feel I am disconnected from this generation.
Back in 2020, Fahadh said in an interview that he would like to be an Uber driver in Barcelona after taking retirement from acting.
When asked whether he stuck to the same plan, Fahadh said, “Absolutely. We were in Barcelona a few months ago. It will only happen after people are done with me, you know? Jokes apart, just to drive someone from one place to another, to witness someone’s destination. I think that’s a beautiful thing. I still do that every time I get a chance. Not just driving, you engage in things you love, be it a game or sport or watching TV.”
On the career front, Fahadh Faasil’s new film Maareesan has hit the screens today. Directed by Sudheesh Sankar, this movie features Vadivelu in the other lead role.
