Sreeleela, one of the most happening actresses in Tollywood, has had a significant gap after her film Guntur Kaaram, and her recent movie Robinhood didn’t meet expectations. While hits and flops are part of the game, it is essential for directors to recognize that they have been offering her the same types of roles, mainly limited to dance numbers. If this continues, Sreeleela might face a situation similar to that of Pooja Hegde, where opportunities gradually decrease.
Looking at her past roles, like in Extraordinary Man, Adikeshava, and Skanda, the characters she portrayed were almost identical in nature, both in terms of performance and the box-office results. It’s clear that this is not entirely her responsibility.
For any actress, it’s crucial to prioritize the significance of the role in the story rather than just the hero’s combination. Playing similar types of roles repeatedly can bore the audience after a certain point. Dhamaka worked out well, but that doesn’t always happen. While Bhagavanth Kesari was a big hit, Her role in the film was an emotional one, sharing a key bond with Balakrishna. Performance-wise, Bhagavanth Kesari was the one that earned her recognition.
Guntur Kaaram had okay songs, but the content didn’t deliver the expected result. Now, Robinhood has also added to this list of films that failed to meet expectations.
Sreeleela is once again pairing up with Ravi Teja for a mass entertainer that will be released soon. However, based on the title, it seems that she might not get much diversity in her role here. But there are hopes for her with Shiv Karthikeyan’s Parashakti, as the direction by Sudha Kongara and the visuals shown in the teaser have raised expectations. She is also shooting for her Bollywood debut with Kartik Aaryan, and a lot of hopes are pinned on that project. If Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh resumes, she is likely to be a part of it, as producer Ravi Shankar recently confirmed that the shoot will start soon.
