Nagarjuna’s iconic film Shiva, which is regarded as a trendsetter of Indian cinema, is returning to theatres this November 14th on the eve of completion of 50 years by Annapurna Studios. The makers of this Ram Gopal Varma directional have remastered this cult classic in 4K Dolby Atmos sound to give a whole new experience to audience with its re-release.
The re-release trailer has been unveiled this evening and the three minute glimpse offers a revisit to all the high moments of this college drama in which the lead protagonist Nagarjuna, a fresher at college, stands up against students union president and a gangster group led by Raghuvaran. The trailer focuses on Nagarjuna’s epic faceoff with JD Chakravarthy and his confrontation with Raghuvaran in the midst of college poltics and his romantic track with heroine Amala.
The trailer starts off with India’s biggest director SS Rajamouli revealing how Shiva changed the perception of Indian films and how it gave rise to the popular saying ‘Before Shiva and After Shiva’. Prominent actors like Megastar Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Allu Arjun and NTR also joined in to express their views on the impact of Shiva on cinema.
The trailer quality is top notch and the enhanced sound mixing makes it an exciting watch. Nagarjuna’s vintage mannerisms and his stupendous screen presence as an college student still appear fresh and stunning even after 36 years. The action episodes and mass dialogues retain their value and credit to the technical team for delivering a promising output. Ilayaraja’s background score is bound to give goosebumps with the upgraded audio.
Overall, Shiva 4K will be a brilliant technical tribute to honour the film’s enduring legacy and audience can relive the trendsetter on the big screen with the enhanced version.
