Usually, small films get a one-time push from a star or a director, maybe a teaser or trailer launch and that’s where it ends. But Sandeep Reddy Vanga has taken things several steps further for a small film titled Jigiris, which is hitting theatres on November 14.

The film stars Krishna Burugula, Dheeraj Athreya, Mani Vaka and Ram Nithin in lead roles. Directed by Harish Reddy Uppula and produced by Krishna Vodapalli under Mount Meru Pictures, Jigiris is a comedy drama that follows four friends who set out on an unexpected road trip to Goa in an old Maruti 800.

Back in June, Sandeep Reddy Vanga released the film’s first look. In August, he launched the teaser, not just through a social media post, but by attending the public event in person. He spoke at length about the team’s efforts and wished them well, which isn’t something you often see from a top filmmaker busy with big-ticket projects.

At the teaser launch, Sandeep revealed his close bond with producer Krishna Vodapalli, his childhood friend. He recalled how Krishna disappeared for three months without answering calls. When Sandeep finally reached him during Animal’s shoot, Krishna confessed that he had already completed the first schedule of Jigiris in Goa. “He didn’t tell me because he knew I’d stop him. Making a film puts everyone on edge,” Sandeep said with a laugh.

Now, with the release around the corner, Sandeep has gone a step further. He sat down for an interview with the Jigiris team and has confirmed his presence at the trailer launch and pre release event as well. For someone directing the country’s biggest stars, his wholehearted support for a small film speaks volumes about his loyalty and humility.

On the work front, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is gearing up for his next directorial, Spirit, starring Prabhas, Tripti Dimri, Vivek Oberoi, and Kanchana. The recently unveiled audio teaser has already created a storm on social media.
