Ramayana is one of the prestigious projects in Hindi cinema right now. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, the film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios is bankrolling the film with a whopping budget of ₹4,000 crore for two parts. Interestingly, the producer made an observation that the film must also score well in the West as well.
Producer Namit Malhotra revealed that Ramayana is a global movie, and he is not just trying to appease the audiences in India. He wanted the people in the West also to watch the movie. “It should speak to you like any other film,” said the producer.
He also mentioned that Ramayana is a film that will resonate with both believers and non-believers. Apart from all the religious and cultural boundaries, the producer wants to the film to perform well. Not just that, he also drew bold comparisons to Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar, Gladiator, and some works of Christopher Nolan.
“If people in the West don’t like it, I consider that a failure. It is meant for the world. If you don’t like it, shame on me; we should have done a better job,” the producer made a bold statement.
