Baahubali: The Epic opened to a huge response at the box office, and it is expected to do big numbers this weekend, with high chances of emerging as the biggest grosser among re-releases eventually. Meanwhile, the film’s director also paved the way for other filmmakers to re-release two-part films as a single film.

Following the success of Baahubali: The Epic, we may also see other two-part films, such as Pushpa and KGF, follow a similar path in the future and be re-released as a single part. Once again, Rajamouli became a trendsetter with this movie. To be honest, if Baahubali was re-released in two parts, it might not have become a huge success like a combined single part. People have already watched both parts separately countless times on TV and digital platforms. So, they might not have shown a big interest in the two parts separately. Thus, Rajamouli’s idea of providing double dhamaka on a single ticket price worked beautifully.

Initially, people were sceptical about the combined film idea due to its lengthy runtime. But due to massive promotions and inclusion of a few unseen footage, made audiences go to theatres in big numbers.

Meanwhile, we hear that Bollywood filmmakers are also trying to implement this strategy. Especially, hit franchises like Hera Pheri, Dhoom, Don, Housefull, Stree, Ek Tha Tiger, Jolly LLB, Singham, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa are trying to implement this strategy by getting re-released as a single part.

Thus, Rajamouli, after setting a trend with pan-India releases, has now set a new trend for re-releases as well. A real trendsetter for a reason!
