Puri Jagannath is on the verge of making a comeback as a director with his next film, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. The makers titled the film Slumdog, and it will be officially announced tomorrow at Green Park Hotel in Chennai, on the occasion of Puri Jagan’s birthday.
The makers earlier considered multiple titles for the film, hinting at the lead playing a beggar. Bhavathi Bikshamdehi and Malik were also considered as titles for the film. The team also thought of titling the film as Beggar. After many discussions, they have now settled on having Slumdog as a title.
The title itself says that the story hints at a poor man or a beggar who might grow rich or get involved in something that changes his life for once and all. The director may provide more insights into the film’s plot tomorrow. However, we are sure that Puri is coming up with one more bold take, backed by strong performances.
After the failures of Liger and Double iSmart, the Telugu audiences are strongly wishing that Puri returns to success with this film. They will easily connect to the film’s title. We have to see how the Tamil audiences will react to it.
Samyuktha and Tabu are also a part of the movie. More details about the film are expected to be out soon.
