Tollywood producer Dasari Kiran Kumar, known for films like Genius, Vangaveeti, Siddharth, and Ram Gopal Varma’s Vyuham, has been arrested by police. He also had political connections and served on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board during the YSRCP government.

Hyderabad police took Kiran into custody on Wednesday and Vijayawada’s Patamata police later brought him to Vijayawada. The arrest came after a complaint about a financial dispute.

The complaint was filed by Kiran’s relative, Gajula Mahesh, who runs a travel agency in Hyderabad. Mahesh said that two years ago, he lent Kiran ₹4.5 crore, but Kiran did not return the money. On August 18, Mahesh and his wife went to Kiran’s office in Vijayawada to ask for the money. They claimed that Kiran and about 15 of his associates attacked them.

After the complaint, Vijayawada police registered a case and started an investigation. Kiran was questioned and taken into custody. The police have asked him to appear for more questioning later this month.

Kiran Kumar is a well-known figure in Tollywood and politics. He produced Vyuham, based on former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s life. His connections in politics and the film industry have made this case a topic of public interest.
