Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie was one of the most hyped projects this year. Although the makers did not give any statements to increase the hype, the fans did have a lot of expectations. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film received a mixed response from the audiences and it did not do as per the expectations. Meanwhile, there is a new update on the film’s OTT release that it will land up on Prime Video in just 28 days.
During the film’s release, reports in film circles suggested that it would arrive on OTT only after 6–8 weeks.
The audience felt that, being such a big movie, Coolie wouldn’t come so soon on OTT. However, surprising everyone, Prime Video confirmed the film’s release on September 11th in all four South languages.
The fact that the announcement poster not having the Hindi language hints that the Hindi version could release late. But then, that does not make any difference as people would watch the film with subtitles, even otherwise.
In one way, the media reports during the promotions might have worked as a promotional strategy, but people may not always believe it if more filmmakers follow this approach.
