One of the major anticipation factors of Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie is the fact that King Nagarjuna is playing the villain role in it. This is the first time Nagarjuna has played the role of an antagonist in his career. In a recent interview, Coolie’s director Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed the reason behind casting Nagarjuna for the role.
Lokesh said that he was a fan of Nagarjuna ever since he watched the actor in Rakshakudu. He said that he and his friends used to sport Nagarjuna’s hairstyle from Rakshakudu during their college days. That was the impact Nag had on Lokesh. He said that after watching Rakshakudu, he always wanted to cast Nagarjuna in an action role. Once Lokesh opened up on Rakshakudu, the clip of Nagarjuna with long hair and suave mannerisms is now going viral on social media.
As Lokesh said, Nag looks absolutely dapper in Rakshakudu, and if Lokesh manages to replicate such swag in Coolie, fans would go wild in theatres for sure. The Master director revealed that it was tough for him to convince Nagarjuna to play the villain in Coolie, and eventually, Nag agreed to do the film after 6 narrations.
Amid huge expectations, Coolie is gearing up for a worldwide release on August 14. It features Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir and Satyaraj in other main roles.
