In a rare phenomenon, a strong content-driven film that has won critical acclaim is also performing exceptionally well at the box office. The movie Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula and starring Dhanush and Nagarjuna in lead roles, celebrated its success in a grand manner, with Megastar Chiranjeevi attending as the chief guest.

Director Sekhar Kammula shared his initial doubts about how the film would be received. “It’s truly amazing to witness such a tremendous response. Everyone is calling Nag’s performance a game-changer, and they say Dhanush delivered a god-like performance.”

Dhanush stated that it feels truly rewarding when a film like this does well. “Nowadays, it’s hard to bring people to theatres. Many believe that only big-budget films can attract crowds. But Sekhar Kammula proved that strong emotions and honest storytelling are enough. I’m really happy to see Sekhar and our producers smiling.”

Nagarjuna spoke about the significance of films like Kuberaa succeeding. “My sincere thanks to Sekhar Kammula. My comments during the last press meet were misunderstood. This is everyone’s film, but more importantly, it is Sekhar Kammula’s vision. He brought out a side of me I didn’t even know existed. Chiranjeevi also appreciated my performance. It’s rare for a film to win critical acclaim and also become a commercial hit.

Dhanush, who has already won four National Awards, delivered an exceptional performance. He completely immersed himself in the role. Rashmika’s performance reminded me of Sridevi in Kshana Kshanam. This film was a revelation. When stories like these succeed, they open the door for new narratives and fresh characters.”

Chiranjeevi shared his thoughts on the film and the casting. “I was amazed when Nag told me during the shoot that he was playing such a different role in a film where Dhanush was the lead. I still wonder where Sekhar found the courage to approach Nagarjuna, and what Nag envisioned when he said yes. His acceptance of the role was the first big success for this film.

Sekhar Kammula has always created meaningful cinema, true to his vision, and has earned a place in many hearts. Congratulations on your silver jubilee.

Nagarjuna lived the role of a man battling inner struggles. He continues to inspire me—not just in health, but in his calm demeanor and attitude. If given the chance, I’d love to take on a meaningful role like that. Rashmika reminded me of Soundarya in Choodalani Undi.

But the character that truly moved me was Deva, played by Dhanush. For someone of his stardom to take on such a role, it’s something only Dhanush could do in this country. I believe Sekhar must have written that role with him in mind. He was amazing. Winning National Awards has become second nature to him. I hope he wins another for this performance.”

Chiranjeevi also emphasized the importance of supporting films like Kuberaa. “We need more films like this. It’s not easy to bring audiences to theaters these days. But when a strong, content-driven film succeeds, especially during uncertain times, it gives all of us in the industry hope.”
