Thaman, one of the top music composers in Telugu cinema, has been busy with multiple projects this year. Earlier, his work in Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and directed by Shankar, was highly anticipated. Fans expected strong songs and visuals, but the songs did not meet everyone’s expectations.
After Game Changer, Thaman had said that without a proper hook step, it is hard for a song to become a hit today. Some reports suggested he was criticizing Ram Charan. Now, Thaman has clarified his statement.
His latest film, They Call Him OG, released on Thursday. The songs and background score have been well received. Speaking to the media, Thaman said his earlier comments were about choreography, not Ram Charan. He explained that in today’s era of Instagram reels, a strong hook step is important for a song to go viral. He gave examples like Premalo, Butta Bomma, Kavalavathi and Laila O Laila.
Thaman said, “Ram Charan is an amazing dancer. My problem was with the choreographers, not him. I composed Raa Macha for Charan, but the choreography did not match his talent, and that disappointed fans. Ram Charan has always been supportive, and he appreciated my work in OG. Some people misrepresented my words.”
He also shared that he composed the Game Changer songs in 2021 and saved them until 2024 without taking any profit. “Whatever I received from Dil Raju garu, I spent it all on the film,” he added.
Thaman is now working on Telusu Kada and Akhanda 2, both set to release this year. He is also composing for The Raja Saab, scheduled for Sankranti 2026.
