Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, Manchu Manoj and Nara Rohith are playing the lead roles in the upcoming Telugu film Bhairavam. Vijay Kanakamedala is the film’s director. As the film gears up for a grand release on May 30th, the director attracted controversy from both film circles and political circles. Today, he came up with an apology to Mega fans on his X account for an old post he shared in 2011. Already, he is facing brutal trolling and criticism from Mega fans. X is also buzzing with #BoycottBhairavam campaign.

Film ControversyBack in 2011, Vijay Kanakamedala’s Facebook account featured a troll against Megastar Chiranjeevi and Mega Powerstar Ram Charan. It was the time when Chiranjeevi was active in politics and he was going through a rough phase. Chiranjeevi merged his PRP into Congress citing ‘Samajika Nyayam’ as a reason and he received criticism for the same. Even from the film industry, he faced trolls and criticism.

Probably, in that context, there were a lot of memes on social media then. The particular post in question, which featured on Vijay’s social media profile is a morphed picture of Chiru and Charan. The original picture was from the Hindi film Paa. Renamed as Chaa, the picture was morphed with the faces of Chiranjeevi and Charan. It also says, “Samajika Nyayam presents – A very rare Father-Son and Son-Father story” and “Written and directed by Allu Aravind.”

The old post surfaced online now, and the Mega fans were hurt. The director worked for Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh and even narrated a script to Pawan. He also enjoys a good bonding with Sai Dharam Tej. Despite all that, the post was still there on social media (now it has been deleted). It is common to have such an urge to share memes when in Youth, and with age, everyone gains maturity. However, Vijay has tendered an apology but also defended himself saying his profile might have been compromised. The fans question that Vijay was not even a celebrity back then, so how could someone hack his profile? That reason made no sense. The director’s explanation lacks clarity and it is adding more fuel to the ongoing trolling.

Political Controversy

During the promotional event in Eluru, the director made remarks that have sparked a political backlash, particularly from YSRCP supporters. He stated, “There is someone always to protect Dharma. Exactly one year ago, there came a person to protect Dharma. Similarly, Kala Bhairava will come to save Dharma in our film.”

Many perceived this as a veiled political statement referencing the recent change in Andhra Pradesh’s political climate, which led to criticism from YSRCP supporters, who took to social media to express their displeasure.

As a result, a boycott trend under the hashtag #BoycottBhairavam began circulating online. With Nara Rohith featuring in the film and him belonging to TDP, the comment is gaining more traction.

On both film and political fronts, Vijay is now facing a brutal trolling for what he shared almost 14 years ago.
