Allu Arjun’s star power in Kerala is the stuff of legend. From his early dubbed films to the blockbuster “Pushpa,” Kerala audiences have embraced him like their own, even affectionately dubbing him “Mallu Arjun.” That level of craze is unmatched, and now, there’s a fresh wave of excitement in the air.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Allu Arjun is all set to collaborate with a Malayalam director for the very first time. While Bunny had initially lined up projects with Trivikram and Sandeep Reddy Vanga post “Pushpa 2,” the film’s phenomenal success seems to have reshuffled his priorities. His much-awaited film with Atlee of “Jawan” fame has already gone on floors in Mumbai, with Sun Pictures backing the project. This big-ticket entertainer is slated for a late 2026 release.
But what’s next for Allu Arjun after Atlee’s film? His planned mythological epic with Trivikram, based on Lord Murugan/Kumara Swamy, has now reportedly been handed over to Jr NTR, who will take the lead. Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is yet to kickstart Prabhas’ “Spirit” and is also tied up with the sequel to “Animal,” titled “Animal Park.” This means Bunny’s collaborations with these directors are on hold for now.
Here’s where things get interesting! Sources say Allu Arjun was recently impressed by a story narrated by Basil Joseph, the acclaimed Malayalam actor-director behind the Netflix hit Minnal Murali. Sources say Allu Arjun was highly impressed with Basil’s pan-India script and is keen to take it forward. If all goes well, the project will be produced by Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind, under the prestigious Geetha Arts banner. Music sensation Jakes Bejoy is likely to compose the soundtrack.
Basil Joseph is no stranger to Telugu audiences, thanks to his notable performances in films like “Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey” and “Sookhmadarshini,” both of which found a solid fan base in Telugu households.
If this collaboration materialises, it will be a dream come true for Malayalam fans who adore “Mallu Arjun.” An official announcement is expected in the second half of this year. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting pan-India project!
