Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu has once again found himself in legal trouble. The Ranga Reddy District Consumer Forum has issued fresh notices to the SSMB29 actor in connection with a real estate fraud case. The actor has been serving as the brand ambassador for a real estate firm named Sai Surya Developers.
As per the latest report, Sai Surya Developers has allegedly cheated customers by advertising unauthorized ventures using Mahesh Babu’s image in promotional brochures. Several complainants, including middle-class families, doctors, and others, said they were misled by these advertisements and ended up purchasing plots worth Rs 34.80 lakh each in the Balapur village. However, they later discovered that the layout did not even exist.
The victims alleged that the promoters had falsely claimed that they had all the required permissions and showcased the venture’s features in brochures that featured Mahesh Babu’s images. The complainants alleged that the developers did not deliver their plots as promised and refunded only Rs 15 lakh each in multiple installments after repeated demands.
The victims then filed a case in the consumer forum, seeking action against three respondents, including Sai Surya Developers as the first respondent, owner Kancherla Satish Chandragupta as the second, and Mahesh Babu as the third respondent.
The victims argued that Mahesh Babu’s presence in the brochures produced by Sai Surya Developers added credibility to the venture and influenced their decision to purchase the lands. The Ranga Reddy Consumer Forum has summoned all three respondents to appear either in person or through legal representatives on the upcoming Monday. The accountability of the respondents will be determined by the forum after a thorough investigation.
A recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid revealed that Mahesh Babu was reportedly paid Rs 5.90 crore as his remuneration to be the brand ambassador of Sai Surya Developers. The remuneration included Rs 2.50 crore in cash. After being summoned by the ED for questioning, Mahesh Babu cited shooting commitments and requested some more time to appear before the investigating authorities.
