Nagrjuna and Dhanush played the lead roles in Sekhar Kammula’s unique social drama Kuberaa which is carrying good reports ahead of the release. A day before the release, Nag shared interesting aspects of the movie.
Nagarjuna has done some multi-starrers before. But he feels Kuberaa is different from them. “I enjoy doing multi-starrers. All stars should come together to tell good stories. I’ve always wanted to work with Sekhar Kammula, and this was the right opportunity. He made a commercial film in his own unique style- socially relevant yet entertaining. His movies are also known for their music. I especially liked the songs in Love Story.”
He clarifies that Kuberaa isn’t the story that runs particularly between two people. “Kuberaa isn’t clash between two individuals. It’s a clash between three societal classes: the ultra-rich, the middle class, and the poor. My character stands in the middle. I play a CBI officer from a middle-class background. This character struggles to choose between right and wrong. He knows he is doing wrong, but he’s compelled to do it for the sake of his family.”
Nag says the audience will notice big change in the portrayal of the character. “You’ll notice a change in my body language, dialogue delivery, and reactions. Everything is shaped by Sekhar Kammula’s style.”
The actor who dubbed for his character in Tamil version says Dhanush is a versatile actor who immerses himself for his character. “I really enjoyed working with Dhanush.”
He says Rashmika’s role will be entertaining. “I told Rashmika that she’s the star of the film. She looks refreshing and plays someone from a lower-middle-class background. In fact, it’s often the middle class that bears the most pressure in society.”
Nagarjuna also reveals that the story and his character are inspired by real incidents. “The story is inspired by real-life incidents. Even my character is based on a real person. The story is more about situations than a traditional plot- how people exploit each other, including Dhanush’s character.”
He thanked the producers for their unwavering support. “My producers, Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, made this film without any compromises. They provided everything the story needed, and I’m truly happy to be associated with them.”
Nagarjuna stated that he will soon announce his 100th project and also announced that his classic Shiva will be re-released with 4K technology.
