Kantara is one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema, which collected more than Rs. 300 crores at the box office when it was released. Directed by Rishab Shetty, the film featured him in the lead role. After the success of the movie, Rishab announced its prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is slated for release on October 2, 2025, but it has been facing severe hurdles since its launch. The latest one is the death of a junior artist. According to the reports, the victim, MF Kapil, an aspiring actor from Kerala, drowned in Souparnika River in Kollur on Tuesday and lost his life.
According to the police, Kapil went for a swim during the lunch break of the shoot and was swept away by a strong current. The local police and fire department launched an immediate rescue operation, but couldn’t save Kapil’s life.
Earlier, the shoot of this movie was halted due to the backlash for alleged environmental damage, which resulted in disputes with local tribal communities. Last year, a bus carrying junior artists met with an accident, leaving several people injured. The shoot came to a halt due to this accident.
Apart from these hurdles, the producers also incurred a huge loss when a costly set was destroyed by sudden winds and rain. Amid these hurdles, we have to see how Kantara’s team manage to release the film on scheduled date.
