Rishab Shetty spoke in Kannada during the pre-release event of the film Kantara: Chapter 1. Starring and directed by Rishab Shetty, the film’s pre-release event attracted a controversy now. The Telugu audiences did not like Rishab speaking Kannada in Hyderabad while promoting the Telugu version. He received a lot of backlash for the same.

Today, speaking at an event, Rishab addressed this language controversy, without directly talking about yesterday’s incident.

“I think in Kannada and because of the same, I tend to speak in Kannada. But, I love to learn new languages. When I go to one place and speak, I should not disrespect the language of the land. But, it gets misfired sometimes. But, I am a proud Kannadiga who will think, speak and write in Kannada. Similarly, when I respect Kannada, I also equally respect and love other languages. I respect all the languages and the core of all languages will always be the same. I will try to put effort in speaking other languages,” said Rishab Shetty.

The above statement was given by Rishab in Hindi and he spoke fluent Hindi at the event. But, he failed to speak in Telugu which is easy to speak for any Kannadiga.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is hitting the screens on October 2nd, 2025 but it will have paid premieres on October 1st.
