The Manchu family’s dream project Kannappa released in theaters just two days ago. With a reported budget of over 200 crore rupees, expectations were high. However, the film did not receive strong business offers before release. Because of this, Manchu Vishnu had to release the film himself in many regions on a commission basis. He also did not lock any OTT deal in advance, hoping the film’s performance would fetch a better rate later.

Kannappa gained attention because of its mythological storyline, grand production scale, and the presence of well known actors like Prabhas in key roles. The film received a good response on the first day, with many theaters running houseful shows. Reports suggest it grossed close to 20 crore rupees on day one, bringing relief and excitement to Vishnu and his team.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film managed to stay steady on the second day. There was no major drop in collections. Early reports say the film earned a similar amount on Saturday, close to what it made on the opening day. In the Telugu states, collections remained stable. In the Hindi market, where the film had a slow start, the second day saw a good improvement.

Trade experts explain that films from the South usually grow slowly in the North. Even Baahubali and Pushpa followed this pattern. For Kannappa, the Hindi version reportedly saw around a 40 percent jump in collections on the second day. However, in Tamil and Malayalam markets, the response remained below expectations.

Still, if the film keeps doing well in Telugu and Hindi, it will help recover a big part of the investment. Many are hopeful that Sunday will bring even stronger numbers than the first two days.
