Dulquer Salmaan who is enjoying best phase with consecutive blockbusters is coming up with a unique period drama Kaantha. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film’s trailer has already received a phenomenal response, and the inclusion of Rana Daggubati in a surprise role as a cop has added to the buzz.
The trailer hints at an epic confrontation between two towering figures- a superstar and his mentor, a renowned filmmaker. According to Rana and other members of the team, the story draws inspiration from real-life incidents that took place in the 1950s.
With limited media coverage and no social media during that era, much of what happened then remains largely unknown. Kaantha aims to shed light on some of these sensational, lesser-known events, bringing them to the big screen for the first time.
While the main characters are inspired by real personalities from the Telugu and Tamil film industries, the film also features several other characters and incidents crafted by the creative team to enhance the narrative.
