Thalapathy Vijay, who recently floated his political party, is all set to bid farewell to films and enter full-time politics soon. Before that, the actor is wrapping up his final film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth. The film features Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju as the leading ladies, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The release date has been locked for January 9.

Ever since the project was announced, strong buzz has been circulating that Jana Nayagan is the Tamil remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, which won a National Award and was directed by Anil Ravipudi. The speculation gained momentum as the team of Jana Nayagan never issued any clarification to deny the reports.

Back in June, on Vijay’s birthday, the makers unveiled a special glimpse that showed him as a cop—strikingly similar to Balakrishna’s role in Bhagavanth Kesari. Now, with the release of the first single Thalapathy Kacheri, comparisons have only grown louder.

The song showcases Vijay in his trademark dance style, joined by Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju. Fans quickly pointed out that a similar celebratory number exists in Bhagavanth Kesari, further strengthening the remake talk.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that KVN Productions has acquired the remake rights of Bhagavanth Kesari for a huge amount, adding more weight to the speculation. With the film’s release approaching and the team maintaining silence, the rumours look hard to dismiss.

Jana Nayagan is slated for a grand Pongal release on January 9, and it will simultaneously release in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu. All eyes are now on whether this much-talked-about project will indeed turn out to be Bhagavanth Kesari’s official remake.
