The much-anticipated theatrical trailer of “Kantara: Chapter 1” was released yesterday, and it received a divided response from the audience. Due to the massive success of the 2022 film Kantara, there are high expectations around the prequel, “Kantara: Chapter 1”. However, the makers failed to capitalise on the hype by not promoting the film extensively.
Everyone thought that the trailer would be enough to raise expectations. But a section of the audience gave a mixed response to the trailer, while another section defended the trailer, saying that the makers deliberately underplayed with the trailer to keep the expectations right. Whatever the reason might be, the trailer couldn’t generate the expected buzz and the makers need to promote the film for the next 10 days to gain massive openings across the country.
The advance sales are not up to the mark in the United States, which might be a result of the zero promotions. Also, OG is releasing this week in Telugu, and if it gains a blockbuster talk, it may have a long run in Telugu states, affecting the initial collections of Kantara. So, it is high time for Kantara makers to promote the film aggressively at least from now to ensure massive openings in the five languages it is releasing in.
Meanwhile, the presence of Rukmini Vasanth in promotions may help the film significantly as she remained the major highlight of the trailer and has a good fan following in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada audiences.
On the whole, despite a few advantages, Kantara: Chapter 1 needs to get into people more aggressively in order to get big openings at the box office. The film is slated for worldwide release on October 2.
