Koratala Siva, along with a handful of Telugu filmmakers who have truly carved out an identity of their own, has consistently delivered hits for some of the biggest stars like Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, and Jr. NTR over the years. In saying that, his last film prior to Devara, Acharya, was a massive disaster, both critically and commercially. That failure really put Koratala in a difficult position, he later bounced back with Devara, which helped him return to the box office even though the film received a mixed response.
At present, Koratala is set to direct Devara 2, which NTR has already confirmed will happen. NTR is currently busy with Prashanth Neel’s project. He has also lined up films with Nelson, Trivikram and the ambitious ‘Made in India,’ a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke. Initially, the plan was to wrap Devara 2 soon after completing Prashanth Neel’s film, but with this lineup, the schedule could shift. This uncertainty has left Koratala Siva waiting for clarity on when his sequel can move forward.
In the meantime, Koratala seems to have initiated discussions with another leading actor. Sources suggest that he recently pitched a new idea to Naga Chaitanya. The actor, who has been meeting the director multiple times over the past few weeks, is reportedly impressed with the concept.
Before Thandel, Chaitanya faced a rough phase at the box office, but the film’s successful run has boosted his momentum again. Currently, he is working on his 24th film, Vrusha Karma, by Karthik Dandu of Virupaksha fame. Fans are already wondering what his landmark 25th project will be, and collaborating with a proven director like Koratala Siva could potentially give the film significant weight.
Though nothing about the story or timeline has been revealed yet, the collaboration is being viewed as a likely possibility. Whether it happens before or after Devara 2 will depend on how NTR finalizes his schedule, but if it comes through, it could mark an important milestone for Naga Chaitanya.
