Music director Devi Sri Prasad is not holding back anymore. At recent events, he’s been making bold and pointed remarks not in anger, but in honesty. During the success meet of Kuberaa, DSP openly praised producer Sunil Narang for clearing his payment before the film’s release — something that doesn’t happen often in the industry. DSP repeated this point several times, clearly hinting that other producers often delay or avoid payments.

DSP also addressed the recent praise he’s been receiving for Kuberaa’s background score, subtly taking a jab at the Pushpa 2 team, which brought in a different composer for the BGM. While he didn’t name anyone directly, the message seemed clear.

In a separate interview, DSP shared his long-standing policy against remix songs. Unlike many top composers in Indian cinema, especially in the South, DSP has stayed away from recreating old hits. He revealed that early in his career, he set a rule for himself: he would only create original music, not remixes. Though he doesn’t criticize others for doing remixes, and even appreciates good ones, he firmly believes his job is to create, not recreate.

This principle has cost him several big projects, including some recent ones with major stars. It’s rumored that he walked away from a big Tamil project because it had too many remix songs.

With Kuberaa’s music getting rave reviews and his stand on his values winning respect, DSP once again proves why he remains one of the most admired and consistent composers in Indian cinema.
