Team India came into the second test match against England in a must win situation after having lost the opening game earlier. But without Jaspreet Bumrah, in the bowling lineup, it looked nearly impossible for India to have a strong start in the second test match.

However, the new captain of the team Shubman Gill was absolutely breathtaking with the bat as he scored 269 runs in the first innings. He took India to a very comfortable position with the team total reading 587.

Gill put on a master class in batting as he looked absolutely composed at the crease. He was absolutely relentless with the bat while English bowlers found it extremely hard to bowl at him.

India piled up to a solid score of 587 runs and in response, England was very shaky with the bat. At one point, there were 26 for 3. But they recovered briefly and the current scorecard by the end of second day’s play reads 77-3.

India is now in a very comfortable position to win the second test match and it all comes down to the bowling performance in the opening two sessions on the third day. If India can confine England to a low score, then it’s certainly game on.
