After ruling Tollywood for over 15 years, actress Samantha added another feather to her cap. Sam turned producer by floating her production house, Tralala Moving Pictures, and bankrolled the recently released Telugu horror comedy, Subham.
Even though Samantha produced the movie on a very modest budget, she ensured the film hogged the limelight before its theatrical release last Friday. Samantha, who also played a crazy cameo in Subham, actively promoted the movie through pre-release events and promotional interviews.
Thanks to her efforts, Subham received a decent response from her fans and moviegoers. The hilarious plotline and the young cast that brought in freshness worked in the film’s favour. However, all these positives somehow didn’t translate to box office collection.
Subham has so far grossed an approximate worldwide gross of just about Rs 5 crores in its opening weekend. Let’s see how it perform in the weekdays. Anyway it can be said that Samantha has already reached her target with Subham.
Despite the film’s underwhelming box office performance, Subham has already emerged as a profitable venture for Samantha. While the film has inked a Rs 1.50 crore deal for satellite rights, Samantha is said to have been in talks to seal a Rs 3 crore deal for the OTT rights. So, in the end, it’s a ‘Subham’ card for the actor-turned-producer.
