Sai Abhyankkar is one of the music composers in the South Indian film industry. The young composer surprised everyone when he was roped in for STR 49, Benz, and AA22xA6. However, his first song as a composer for a mainstream cinema was released yesterday and opened to a mixed response.

From the film titled Dude, the first single came out yesterday. On the outer level, the song looked like a catchy song, sung by the lead pair, Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju. However, the song did not go viral like Sai Abhyankkar’s previous songs.

Sai Abhyankkar shot to fame as most of his cover songs went viral on social media. “Aasa Kooda”, “Sithira Puthiri” and “Vizhi Veekura”, all composed for Think India. “Aasa Kooda” is his most-watched music video on YouTube.

However, for Dude, Sai’s work is partly criticised on social media. The composition is dull and has routine elements. Sai is currently working on multiple prestigious projects, and the latest composition is now raising doubts about his potential.

But we must respect the work Sai is doing at the age of 20. Moreover, it is too early to judge Sai at this stage, that too, just with one song. Compositions vary from movie to movie and the approach will also be different from cover songs to composing songs for a film.

Although his previous works opened to a positive response, he is yet to prove big with mainstream films. He has his hands full currently and one song is not enough to pass a judgement on him. We must wait few more days to understand the potential of Sai.
