When you achieve success, the world stops and listens. Additionally, the success puts you in a position to ‘demand.’ But, what makes the difference is if your demands are ‘reasonable’ or ‘unrealistic’ and ‘over-the-top.’ In the recent Sandeep Reddy Vanga-Deepika Padukone fall out with regard to Spirit, a huge debate was centered around the demands that the heroines usually make. It has become a tradition in the film industry that the heroines often make demands about luxurious stays and travel. However, the producer pays the price and only he knows the pain of it.
Currently, there’s a discussion within the close quarters of the film industry, about the ‘demands’ of a star heroine with 2 decades of experience for her recent travel to Hyderabad from Mumbai. The particular actress hails from North but gained stardom in South. She has worked with almost all the top heroes in Telugu and Tamil. She still commands craze but when it comes to the filmography, she is not very active in South.
Reportedly, the heroine who stays in Mumbai travels with a team of five members whenever she needs to attend a shoot in other cities. She wants her manager, hairstylist, makeup artist, costume designer and a spot boy tagged along. Not just that, the producer who convenes the meeting has to bear the expenses for their travel.
While the heroine apparently asks for booking of three seats (window + middle + aisle) in the first row or the emergency exit, she wants her manager to be seated window side, with the other team members settled in aisle seats. The expenses also expand to availing Fast Forward services, onboard meal options, Excess baggage fee and also purchasing more luggage if needed. The heroine also demands Protocol/Encalm assistance along with porter service or Meet & Greet at both the airports. In this heroine’s case, she demanded it at both Mumbai Airport as well as Hyderabad Airport.
All of that mentioned above is just a one way fare but the producer must also bear the expenses for the return journey of the actress. The actress also share her preference of which flight to be booked at what time.
Certainly, a heroine of that experience and stardom can push demands forward but they should be reasonable enough for anyone to bear and not add unnecessary burden to the producer or any party who hopes to work with her. If the actress is making such demands even before committing for a project and after coming board, the sky is the limit for these unrealistic demands. One of the reasons why these heroines are not being preferred anymore is the demands they put forward and those are not at all justified.
It’s been more than 5 years since the actress scored a success in Telugu and if she continues with the same attitude, she will not have films anymore in hand. Also, these heroines frequently work in Bollywood and things always do not work similarly everywhere.
Just like how people say, “Be a Roman, when you are in Rome,” these heroines also must learn to behave in a way they are warmly welcomed. Otherwise, it is just a matter of time for them to lose the survival.
