Actress Genelia condemned the statements of she had not got any solid roles in South films in her career and asserted that she got the best roles of her career in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam film industries. She went on to add that she is forever indebted to the work she got down the South.

During a promotional interview for her upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, she was asked if she ever felt she was never given solid roles in the south. It looked like the interviewer intentionally tried to demean the Southern film industry by asking such a question. However, Genelia gave him a befitting reply that he wouldn’t have imagined.

Responding to the question, Genelia replied, “No, I always got (solid roles). If you see my South films, I have had my best roles ever. It was my learning ground. I am eternally indebted to the work that I got there. If you go to Hyderabad today, you will still know Haasini (her role in Bommarillu), you will know Harini in Tamil (Santosh Subrahmaniam), and you will know Ayesha in Malayalam (her role in Urumi). You will know all these characters. I think I have been blessed to get such kind of role.”

She said that the biggest problem with people is that they look for validation. She said actors should do films in other languages for the love of what they want to do. She stated that if actors enjoy their process, their career speaks for itself. She said that she got a chance to work with top directors like Shankar and Rajamouli, and also with newcomers. She said that she enjoyed the whole process.
