SS Rajamouli, known for blending Indian mythology with contemporary stories, is back with a new project starring Mahesh Babu. After the massive success of RRR, expectations are high.

The film, initially called SSMB29 and also known by the working title GlobeTrotter, hints at a story involving travel and adventure. Rajamouli announced that the first look will be revealed in November 2025. On Mahesh Babu’s 50th birthday, Rajamouli shared a pre-look of the protagonist wearing a simple shirt and a chain with Lord Shiva’s symbols, along with blood on his face. The actor’s face remains hidden. Rajamouli called this a fresh reveal and thanked fans for their patience.

Reports, though unconfirmed, suggest the film’s title will be Gen 63. Mahesh Babu plays a character from the 63rd generation of an important family. The story follows his quest for rare and powerful objects and is inspired by the Ramayana, with some science fiction elements. The setting is the ancient city of Kashi, known for its spiritual and cultural significance.

About 30% of the shooting is complete. Filming will begin in Tanzania on August 15, focusing on jungle action sequences for roughly a month. Kenya was initially considered but dropped due to unrest, and South Africa was also ruled out due to logistics. Tanzania’s natural landscape fits the film’s vision.

Mahesh Babu will showcase multiple looks to reflect his character’s journey. The cast reportedly includes actors from across India, making it a pan-Indian venture.

The shoot is expected to wrap by mid-2026, aiming for a March 2027 release. If all goes well, this film will mark not only a major collaboration between Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu but also a significant step for Indian cinema on the global stage.
