During the National Awards announcement last time, one major disappointment was for the Malayalam cinema industry. Everyone thought that Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham would gain at least a single award, but the film did not get any recognition. The jury was heavily criticised for the same as well. However, after a long time, Prithviraj reacted to this aspect at Sharjah.
Speaking at an event, Prithviraj made it clear that he made the film for the audience and not the jury. It is an obvious statement that everyone usually gives. Filmmakers, when faced with disappointment, quickly say that the love and acceptance from the audience is itself an award for them.
“A film is not made for some jury or for ten people to watch and give marks, nor is it made only to be screened at international festivals. Ultimately, films are made for the audience — for people to come to the theatre and enjoy. In that sense, the audience has already given Aadujeevitham the biggest award. For that, I thank them,” the actor said.
On the work front, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s next film is Vilayath Buddha, a thriller. The actor was last seen in the Hindi thriller ‘Sarzameen.’
