The makers of Kaantha, the upcoming period drama starring Dulquer Salmaan, have unveiled a teaser, on the occasion of the actor’s birthday. Set against the rich, nostalgic backdrop of 1950s Madras, the movie is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. It is a collaboration between Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media.
Kaantha explores ego, love, art, and emotions in a titanic clash between two great artists. Ayya, a legendary director, was instrumental in shaping the career of his close friend Chandran, helping him rise to stardom. However, their once-strong bond has since fractured, leaving them estranged. When Ayya sets out to make a female-centric film titled Shaantha, Chandran, now an influential star, gradually hijacks the project, reshaping the narrative to suit his own image and retitling it Kaantha.
Dulquer Salmaan steps into Chandran’s shoes with fierce intensity, embodying the complex layers of an artist caught between ambition and legacy. Samuthirakani delivered an intense performance as a legendary filmmaker. Bhagyashri Borse makes a memorable impression.
The world of Kaantha is brought to life by Dani Sanchez Lopez’s remarkable cinematography and Tha. Ramalingam’s meticulous art direction. Music by Jhanu Chanthar builds an atmospheric tension that lingers long after the teaser ends.
