Superstar Rajinikanth’s new film Coolie is set for a grand worldwide release on August 14, amid huge expectations among fans across the country. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this movie also features an ensemble cast, including Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Satyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan.
Among all these actors, the film is critical for the careers of senior stars Nagarjuna and Aamir, who are in a transitional phase of their respective careers. Their plans regarding film choices will depend on Coolie’s result.
After a string of flops, Nagarjuna decided to change his route and is now picking age-appropriate and supportive roles. In the process, he recently directed Kuberaa, which had a fairly good run at the box office. Moreover, it garnered a great deal of appreciation for Nagarjuna as an actor, and many people lauded him for taking on such an important role, despite it being a supporting character.
He will be seen as the antagonist Simon in Coolie. Nagarjuna is quite excited about this character and this movie. He is pretty confident that it would unveil a newer side of him as an actor, and if it clicks, he might do more key supporting characters, apart from lead roles, in the coming days.
Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan’s choices haven’t been working after Secret Superstar. While Thugs of Hindustan and Laal Singh Chaddha ended up as colossal disasters, his recent film Sitaare Zameen Par ended up as an average venture. People aren’t interested in Aamir films like the way they used to before. So, Aamir is also trying to take a different path and thus, he accepted to do a guest appearance in Coolie.
He will be playing a character called Dahaa in the film, which is a negatively shaded character, just like Rolex from Vikram. While working on Coolie, he also got used to working with Lokesh and they will be soon reuniting for a superhero film. If his character in Coolie becomes a success, we can expect Aamir to pick up some important character roles as well in the future.
