Hrithik Roshan and NTR are playing the lead roles in the upcoming Hindi film titled War 2. Ayan Mukerji is the film’s director. There are high expectations surrounding the film. Even on the business front, the film is attracting lucrative deals. Meanwhile, the word in the trade is that the team wants to aim for the biggest ever day one revenue on the release day.
The target in front of the makers is to register a gross of around 175 Cr rupees on the release day worldwide. So far, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan registered 130 Cr rupees gross on the release day and remained on the top in terms of Bollywood films.
However, Pushpa 2 stands All India Number 1 film with a release day gross of over 250 Cr rupees. In such a scenario, considering the market conditions, the release date, and the competition, the team is hopeful to make a staggering amount of over 175 Cr rupees.
Interestingly, the film unit locked the premium IMAX screens exclusively for the film already. The producer is also making sure to have a record release for the movie across the country and in overseas.
What’s truly game-changing for War 2 is the pan-India magnetism brought in by NTR. His fanbase, particularly in Telugu-speaking states and overseas markets like the USA, UAE, and Australia, is being seen as the key to cracking the South Indian and global markets. And traditionally, Hindi has a big market everywhere and Hrithik Roshan is a crowd puller too.
War 2 releases on August 14, the same day as Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Coolie is again a pan-India film, with big stars featuring in it. This scheduling clash is reportedly limiting War 2’s access to screens, especially in Tamil Nadu and parts of Telugu states & Kerala. Hence, the film can not match the record-breaking reach that Pushpa 2 enjoyed.
The trade also predicts that War 2 might finally give Bollywood the crossover moment it’s been chasing, and Hrithik Roshan might find his long-awaited spot among the Day 1 grossing giants.
