Baahubali is one of the biggest films ever made in India, back in 2015. The two-part franchise brought huge recognition to many, including Ramya Krishna, who played the role of Sivagami. Interestingly, deceased actress Sridevi was approached for the role, but she declined the project.

There were rumors that Sridevi had put forward many unrealistic demands, including a full hotel floor and a huge paycheck for Baahubali, but her husband Boney Kapoor has denied these claims.

In a recent interview, Boney Kapoor opened up on his side of the story regarding why Sridevi could not do the film.

According to Boney Kapoor, the producers of Baahubali offered an amount to Sridevi that was less than what she had taken for the film English Vinglish. Boney insisted that Sridevi not do the project in such a scenario that she is not a struggling actor, and the producers will get mileage for their project to have Sridevi in their movie. So, he wanted Sridevi to demand an amount more than what she has taken for English Vinglish.

At the same time, Boney Kapoor stated that it was the confusion and misunderstanding from the producer’s side that put Sridevi away from the film. Boney also made it clear that he paid for the airfare of their children when they went to New York during the shoot of English Vinglish. “I stayed with Sridevi in her suite, but I paid for my children’s rooms and flights,” clarified Boney.

He clearly stated that the producers fed wrong information to Rajamouli and he was the witness to all that happened that day. He also mentioned that after the creative discussion, Rajamouli exited the room and he was not part of the commercials discussion.

Boney also said that producer lied to Raghavender Rao saying that Sridevi had asked for an X amount but in reality, that did not happen. Boney concluded that there is no regret for letting the project go but not happy with the way how everything unfolded.

However, Ramya Krishna was a perfect fit for Sivagami’s role and not sure if Sridevi would have created such an aura.
