Even after a decade since the start of the Baahubali juggernaut, SS Rajamouli’s craftsmanship still resonates with moviegoers. This is proved with the overwhelming reception that has been witnessed for the release of Baahubali: The Epic ( a remastered version combing the two parts in the duology) on October 31st.
On its tenth anniversary, team Baahubali came up with the decision to condense both blockbusters into a single feature to take audiences on a nostalgic trip and the attempt has been largely successful because the re-release has shattered numerous box office records in the first two days. Even the premiere shows raked in impressive revenues all over the country.
According to trade estimates, Baahubali: The Epic has re-written the box office records by collecting 30 Crores gross worldwide in two days . Despite running over 220 Minutes, the film has garnered huge anticipation because of the undiminished craze the franchise has got among moviegoers. Moreover, the film is seeing strong occupancies during the weekend despite new releases in Telugu.
Trade circles are expecting the film to emerge as the highest grosser among re-releases in its full run. However, it is still unclear whether Baahubali: The Epic will be able to reach the 100 crore mark, especially with several new releases lined up from next week. The Epic will perform decently until the release of ‘The Girl Friend’ and ‘Jatadhara’, which are carrying good expectations and moderate pre-release hype.
If both films get decent talk, Baahubali : The Epic might find it difficult to carry the current momentum into the second weekend and the collections will see a big drop for sure. It will be a huge achievement if a film scores 100 Crores mark with re-release. But, it looks improbable now.
