Bollywood director Ayan Mukerji, who broke into the Hindi cinema scene after delivering a massive blockbuster with Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013, was tipped to enter the top league after the release of his ambitious action spectacle  War 2 which starred Hrithik Roshan and NTR in lead roles.

Unfortunately, War 2 ended as a colossal debacle at the box office and damaged his reputation as a big-ticket director. Moreover, he was criticised for not able to handling two biggest superstars with great potential. The impact of ‘War 2’ failure is so high that Ayan has now decided to back off from directing the fourth installment of Dhoom franchise, which will start Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role.

As per reports from Bollywood circles, Ayan has reportedly informed producer Aditya Chopra about his decision to part ways with the much anticipated Dhoom 4 and concentrate on the second movie of his epic Brahmastra. Sources revealed that Ayan has opted out because he feels films like War 2 and Dhoom 4 are not his cup of tea as he is more adept to narrate stories with wider scope for romance, drama and emotion.

For all his films except War 2, Ayan has got full command over script and screenplay. Whereas for War 2, he was just executing what was written by Sridhar Raghavan which he feels not correct. Ayan is currently giving finishing touches to Brahmastra 2 and aims to take the project on floors next year. Meanwhile, Aditya Chopra is considering other options to lock a suitable director for Dhoom 4.
