After delivering a hat-trick of blockbusters with Simha, Legend and Akhanda, the powerful combination of Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu is returning to continue their success streak with Akhanda 2. The film is slated for a grand release on December 5th and there are massive box office expectations as the first installment turned out to be a huge blockbuster.

The spellbinding visuals in Akhanda played a pivotal role in its theatrical success. The first glimpse of the sequel also received a roaring response. Interestingly, the makers have now announced that ‘Akhanda 2’ will have a grand release in 3D format worldwide alongside 2D version. The big announcement was made this Sunday morning during the promotional event in Hyderabad.

A special screening of the upgraded 3D visuals was held for the media and fans just a while ago in Prasadz Imax. Director Boyapati Srinu revealed that Telugu audience will witness a never-before-seen experience with the 3D version of Akhanda 2.

This is an ambitious move by the team to target pan-India market by promising a better theatrical experience in the 3D format. But, the question is whether adequate number of screens in Telugu states support 3D format and compatible glasses can be provided to enhance viewing experience of audience or not.

Moreover, some recent films which got released in 3D disappointed moviegoers because many screens failed to deliver to the high expectations. So, the team should ensure that the plan to release in 3D won’t end as a disappointment.

Akhanda 2 will no doubt garner solid openings all over because of the hype and hysteria among audience. The genre and the mythology connection will be the biggest selling point for the sequel in North India. If the 3D version manages to impress audience, box office will witness a storm for sure.
