ETV Win, which has been steadily growing its presence in the OTT space, recently found success with the series Anaganaga, boosting both viewership and subscriber count. Riding that momentum, the platform launched a new youth-centric web series titled AIR (short for All India Rankers), which dives into the lives of intermediate students and their everyday struggles.

The series received a positive response initially, especially for its relatable storytelling and youthful energy. However, one particular scene from an episode has sparked controversy on social media. In that scene, a character appears to advise his juniors with remarks that seemingly promote caste-based thinking. He emphasizes choosing people from one’s own community, even suggesting that success, like in cricket or other fields, should be seen through the lens of caste.

This dialogue, especially with a letter highlighted ‘C’ on a board that some viewers interpreted as representing a specific caste, triggered criticism online. Many accused the show of pushing a harmful narrative, even if unintentionally.

As the outrage grew, the makers of AIR responded quickly. The team clarified that the scene was not meant to promote any caste bias and promised to prevent such incidents in the future. Reports suggest that the controversial scene may be removed altogether.

At Ramoji Group, we are committed to respecting everyone’s sentiments and avoiding any offense. All objectionable scenes in the *AIR* web series have been removed. Thank you for your continued support. ETV Win consistently delivers high-quality and diverse content. @etvwin— saikrishna koinni (@krishna_kri) July 5, 2025
