Actress Shreya Dhanwanthary is not happy with the censor board, and this time, it’s not for what you might expect. While many actresses usually hesitate to do intimate scenes on screen, Shreya is upset because one such scene was removed from the film.

The actress, who hails from Hyderabad and first appeared in the Telugu film Sneha Geetham, later moved to Bollywood and shot to fame with Scam 1992. Known for her bold photo shoots and strong opinions, Shreya today took to Instagram to criticize the censor board’s decision to cut a 33-second kiss scene from the new Superman movie.

She questioned the logic behind censoring a harmless lip-lock between the superhero and his love interest. “The censor board chopped off a 33-second kiss scene in Superman. I don’t understand this action. They want us to go to theatres and support cinema, avoid piracy, but then take away from the theatre experience like this? Why can’t we, as paying adults, decide what we want to watch? This is just absurd,” Shreya wrote.

Her post sparked a debate online. While some agreed with her take on artistic freedom and audience choice, others countered her by saying Superman is a family-friendly franchise mostly watched by kids, and the censor board likely made the cut to maintain that image.

Whether right or wrong, Shreya’s comments have certainly stirred a conversation about where to draw the line between creative expression and content regulation.
