The rise of Telugu cinema to its current global stature owes much to a handful of visionaries, and Megastar Chiranjeevi stands at the forefront of this history. As he celebrates his 70th birthday today, the industry reflects on his pivotal role in shaping Tollywood’s reputation beyond regional confines.

Chiranjeevi broke barriers in the 1980s and 1990s when Telugu cinema was largely regional. His films’ mass appeal, innovative action choreography, and iconic dance numbers sparked a new wave of storytelling that influenced younger generations of stars and filmmakers. With his presence, Tollywood proved it could produce entertainers that matched Bollywood’s scale and impact.

Chiranjeevi starred in various Industry Hits, like Pasivadi Pranam, Yamudiki Mogudu, Khaidi, Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Gang Leader, Gharana Mogudu, and Indra. No other hero has so many industry hits.

Known for his generosity, Chiranjeevi gives without seeking recognition. Whenever someone is in need, it is Chiranjeevi’s door they knock on, and he never speaks of the help he extends.

Chiranjeevi encouraged organized fan clubs and inspired actors to actively participate in promoting social causes. His example blurred the line between reel-life heroism and real-world responsibility, making him cinema’s ambassador not just for entertainment, but for cultural pride.

Recognized with the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and honored at multiple national and international forums, Chiranjeevi’s influence still resonates in the new era of pan-Indian films. He was honoured with a Guinness World Record in 2024 as the most prolific actor-dancer in the Indian film industry.

Widely regarded as a trouble-shooter, he is known for stepping in to resolve issues within the industry. Whether it’s initiating dialogue with the government or addressing pressing concerns, he is always at the forefront. His intervention was instrumental in bringing a workers’ union strike to a halt. A true megastar, his legacy extends far beyond cinema.

On the work front, Chiranjeevi will be coming up with back to back films in 2026 with Vishwambhara, #ChiruAnil, and Bobby’s film.
