These days, many filmmakers and actors are chasing pan-India movies in the Telugu film industry, without understanding what exactly audiences are expecting from them. As a result, many recent pan-India movies turned out to be flops at the box office.
2025 has been a huge learning curve for Tollywood as it is evident that audiences crave for content and not budgets, starcast or pan-India status.
Films like Sankranthiki Vasthunam, Court, Single and Thandel have proved to be true winners at the box office this year. Kuberaa was a hit in Telugu but ended up as a flop in other languages. Then, we have anticipated pan-India movies like Game Changer, War 2 and Coolie, which were simply rejected by the audience.
Going by this trend, it is quite clear. Audiences want content more than anything else. Be it a comedy like Single or a family entertainer like Sankranthiki Vasthunam or an intense drama like Court, people encouraged a film with good content, despite its genre.
Maybe it is high time for filmmakers and actors to realise what audiences want and cater for them with unique and good stories rather than hyper-masculine pan-India films.
